3 Mini Rituals for a Mindful 2020

You know...like brushing your teeth the same way every day. Or the first few things you do when you get home from work. Or your nighttime routine.

While you may not think of these ordinary events as "rituals," these 3 daily touch points offer ideal opportunities to infuse presence, awareness and intention to transform mundane moments into mindfulness practices.

1. Morning Ritual 

Put a little sticky note on your mirror with the affirmation "I trust that I AM enough." Look into your own eyes and say the words out loud before and after you brush your teeth. Notice how you feel.

2. After Work Ritual 

Before you pour that glass of wine or start reading the mail, pause for a few minutes to light a candle, some incense, or a smudge stick. Let the flame remind you of your inner flame, and your connection with the life force that is all around you. Invite peace into your heart and home.

3. Before Bed Ritual 

As you close your eyes, notice your thoughts. Recognize the past is gone and memories are like a fine mist that can simply drift away. Recognize that any thoughts of the future are like a movie projector that you can turn off. Allow yourself to bask in the stillness of the present moment. Let it be OK that you don't know what tomorrow will bring.  

In Summary,

Rituals do not have to be religious, or complicated, or big dramatic performances. As you bring mindfulness to the simple things you do each day, you can create mini rituals that support your well being and soul evolution. What used to be mindless habits can become mindful touch points that help you find your way back to center in the midst of a chaotic world.
